New Life Program

The Erie City Mission’s New Life
Program is a transitional living environment with an emphasis on Recovery, for men suffering from addictions. Our focus is on the spiritual, emotional and psychological aspects of long-term recovery.


The New Life Program consists of:

  • Samaritan Care Shelter
  • New Life Program (NLP)
  • Internships
  • Three Quarter Program
  • Supervised Independent Living
  • 12 Step Fellowship
  • Individual Counseling
  • Case Management

The New Life Program constitutes a more comprehensive involvement in the Core Classes , Groups, Counseling, Work Therapy, Vocational Rehabilitation and introduces men to the Twelve Step fellowships. During this portion of the program a man is expected to apply the things he is learning to his life. During this phase changeit is not only encouraged , but expected. A strong focus on personal responsibility is emphasized.

The resident is now fully immersed in the Therapeutic Community and here is where he learns to trust himself again as well as others. Progress is key here and the New Life Program staff monitors this progress and will suggest changes or offer encouragement as needed.

Pre-New Life Program:

This phase of the program lasts
up to 30 days and focuses on introducing the client to the program , with an emphasis on rules, regulations, program expectations and personal responsibility towards ones recovery. Men are introduced to the basic curriculum and structured environment that will characterize the remainder of the program.

Internship Program

As part of the NLP, clients may apply for Internship. These residents, if accepted, commit to an additional nine months in the program. These clients have and must demonstrate excellence in their recovery program, leadership abilities and a desire to give back to the community.

Three-Quarter Program

Upon completion of the New Life Program a resident my opt for 3/4 status . Here a man is able to find a job, work and continue living in a supportive environment. He is able to save money while continuing to working on his recovery. The client also begins to transition himself back into the community. The goal here is self-sufficiency over a structured period of time.
