THE ERIE CITY MISSION’S YOUTH GROUP CHALLENGE 10’

GOAL:

Provide youth groups of any age and kind a means by which they can work together creatively to help the Erie City Mission during a time of the year that we could use it most.

ADDED BONUS:

Offer youth and leaders the opportunity to unite, fellowship and celebrate their accomplishments at a fun culminating event.

OBJECT:

To promote youth groups to hold a one-day or ongoing “Collection Drive” for the Erie City
Mission from June 1-July 4, 2010 to accomplish the HEAVIEST collection. Pick-ups will take
place July 5-7 and our Youth Group celebration event will take place at the Erie Seawolves 7:05PM game on Thursday, July 29--$8.00 Picnic Pass and Reserve Seat Ticket.

COLLECTION DRIVES:

• Collections may include any item from our food and personal care item list—this list can be found on our website at www.eriecitymission.org
HOWEVER, collection items with specific weight values include:
1. Toilet Paper – Value=5lb./roll
2. Paper Towels – Value=5lbs./roll
3. Napkins – Value=5lb./package
4. Facial Tissues – Value=5lb./box
5. Feminine Hygiene Products=5lbs./box
6. Baby Diapers=20lbs./package
7. Baby Wipes=5lbs./container
8. Jar of Baby Food=2lbs./jar
9. Box of Baby Cereal=5lbs./box
10. Cereal=10lbs./medium or large box
11. Macaroni and Cheese=5lbs./box
12. Spaghetti=5lbs./1lb. box
13. Any Soup=5lbs./can or Tomato Soup=7lbs./can
14. New Clothing (with tags on) – Value= 20lbs.
15. Monetary Donations – Value= Tripled ($100.00=300lbs.)

*All above items must meet any specifics and/or be unopened and full size packages or containers to receive full weight value. All other items should be boxed and will be weighed by the scale.
*The more we can generate of the same type of food, the more efficient it is for us to prepare and feed large quantities. Thank you.

CELEBRATION:

Winning Youth Group with heaviest collection will be invited to bring their members for a free all-u-can-eat tail-gate party and Erie Seawolves baseball game on Thursday, July 29, 2010. They will also be able to select a member of their group to throw out the first pitch that night.

All participating youth groups are invited to also attend the buffet and game for an
$8.00 pass. And all youth and leaders who participated in the challenge and that are in attendance will be eligible for a raffle drawing of many cool prizes.

BIG PRIZE: For each 1,000lbs that a youth group collects, they may enter a contestant in our Cereal Eating Contest at the Seawolves Celebration night to compete for a Youth Group Party at Splash Lagoon!
