Help the Homeless Week 2010

January 28, 2010 | Newsroom

Calling all local schools, churches and businesses!

We want you to be part of the fourth annual "Help the Homeless Week".
Just lead an effort with your co-workers, classmates or congregation to use
the week from February 21st through February 27th to help raise awareness of
the problem of homelessness and hunger right here at home.

How can you help?

  • Pray for all those who serve and are served at the Erie City Mission and plan to join us for a county wide Worship & Prayer Service on Sunday night, February 21 at 7PM—Site-TBA
  • Have a collection drive of one of the specific themes below or our general needs list can be found on our website: www.eriecitymission.org
  • Have a "dress down" day. Invite those in your school or business to donate a set amount for the right to go casual for a day.
  • Sell delicious "Mission Possible" bars. They are $1.00 Pulakos Chocolates that everyone loves!
  • Can or Cereal Collection Challenge-Host a contest and be the class or group to collect the most cereal boxes and/or create the most unique sculpture with your collection within your organization.
  • Go to Max & Erma’s on Tuesday, February 23 for lunch or dinner—Help us distribute coupons
  • Buy a coffee at Krispy Kreme—February 1-28 and 10¢ will go to the Mission
  • Attend our Premier Event-KNOCK OUT HOMELESSNESS—Round 3 a boxing extravaganza hosted by Erie’s own Lou Bizzarro on Thursday, February 25 at Rainbow Gardens
  • Sign up for a “Who’s Cooking What?” Day at the Mission
  • Organize a discussion/task group to see how you can help the homeless as part of your ministry. Erie City Mission DVD Special on Homelessness available to show to your group.

The creative sky is the limit for what your group can do!
