Angel Bay Set to Close Temporarily & Reopen in Early 2010 in the West Erie Plaza

November 24, 2009 | Newsroom

Due to economic realities, it has become necessary for the Erie City Mission to consolidate 2 of its thrift store locations.

December 23, 2009 will be the last day of operation for Angel Bay Finer Used & Specialty Goods at its current location at 843 Pittsburgh Avenue.

Angel Bay will reopen in early 2010 in its new location in the West Erie Plaza.

The popular upscale thrift shop will take up residence within the existing Thrifty Shopper Store at 904 West Erie Plaza. The Erie City Mission is pleased to announce that the stores will operate side by side, each retaining their own unique personalities.

The Mission is grateful to Angel Bay’s loyal and wonderful customers and is looking forward to better serving those same customers along with many new ones in 2010 and for many years to come.

According to Erie City Mission Acting Executive Director Darrell Smith, “Angel Bay is a wonderful store that happens to be coming to the end of its lease. While it provides a great and inexpensive shopping experience, the primary function of Angel Bay and the three Thrifty Shopper Stores in the area, is to help support the Erie City Mission and its programs that house the homeless, feed the hungry and rescue the lost. Although it will cause a temporary inconvenience, it is the best financial decision for the Erie City Mission.”

Thrifty Shopper Stores are located at the West Erie Plaza and 914 State Street in Erie and in Girard, at 10081 Ridge Road. The Donation Center at 12th & Raspberry in Erie accepts gently used clothing, furniture, computers and household goods.
