Erie Seawolves and Fans Help the Mission Once Again
Opening Day of Erie Seawolves ticket sales turned out to be a banner day for the Erie City Mission. Fans that turned out on March 15th had the opportunity to purchase special ticket packages, with every penny donated to the Erie City Mission for programs that house the homeless and feed the hungry right here at home.

Up for grabs were the City Mission Slugger package…4 box seats to any game of the 2008 season, two Seawolves t-shirts and 2 Seawolves caps for just 40 dollars; also, the Grand Slam Pack…8 club seats to any 2008 game, for only 80 dollars. Fans who brought in 2 boxes of cereal for the Mission received a free ticket to the opening game.
The Erie City Mission is so grateful to John Fry and Rob McGee of the Erie Seawolves for being such generous and caring neighbors. We are also grateful to the fans that helped us collect nearly $1000, along with 70 boxes of cereal and other food and personal care items.

So where does the money and collected items go? Each $10 donated provides a free hot lunch for up to 8 hungry men, women and children at the Mission. An average of 200 people walk through the Mission’s doors at 11th and French Streets each and every day for what could be their only meal of the day. Each $25 donated feeds and houses a homeless man for a night. The boxes of cereal are distributed at the Mission’s Family Care Center at 717 French Street. Nearly 2,000 local families depend on the Family Care Center for emergency groceries to get them through the week.
The Erie Seawolves partnership with the Erie City Mission truly makes a difference in the lives of Erie’s homeless and hungry.
